Making a Fire Symbol Out of an Alcohol Burning Stove

Materials

 for this project you will need two pop cans, a sharpie, a utility knife, a pushpin, wire cutters and a book

 using a book to keep the pen level, draw a ring around the can about an inch from the top

 using your utility knife, cut through the aluminum on the line you drew in the previous step.

 using a pair of wire cutters or tin snips, cut 8 2 inch slits in the side of the can, equally spaced around the perimeter.

 position the letters on the can to create some sort of symbol, then using the letters as a stencil,  create an outline of small holes with the pushpin

 fill the lower can with 40 ml of denatured alcohol and replace the cap, wait about 20 seconds and hold a match close to the area with the holes. the gases from the alcohol will ignite, creating a burner in the shape of your symbol.
