This exercise is a starting point for 11 year-old students of Product Design. The students develop the design further based upon their client's desires (they team-up in class). Extension is provided through the design and creation of set-squares and protractors.
Here Are the Tools and Materials That I Used

Software: Techsoft 2D Design. This is very much educational CAD software used by most schools in the UK.
Laser cutter: Techsoft LasaerCam A2+. Again, very popular in UK education.
Materials: Trotec MDF with a birch veneer. There are a range of veneers you can choose from. They look great and laser cut beautifully.
