Making a Functioning Paper Gun

Today I am going to show you the steps to making a gun that shoots entirely out of paper.

Supplies

Paper

Tape

4 Rubber Bands

Scissors

A pencil

A pen

A toothpick

a wooden skewer

A Glue Gun

Making the Main Structure

You will want to roll up the paper around the pencil and put pieces of tape on it. You will want to make roughly seven of these. You will want to do this with the wooden skewer, making it smaller than the pencils. You will want to do this roughly four times. You will then do this with a pen once or twice.

Making the Main Contraption

This is what you want to do to make the piston for the gun. I am going to refer to the pen-sized paper cylinder as the biggest cylinder, the pencil cylinder as the medium cylinder, and the wooden skewer as the small cylinder. You will want to make sure that the smallest cylinder has the ability to freely move through the biggest cylinder. You will then take some strips of paper about 1 inch. With these strips, you will want to wrap them tightly around the smaller cylinder at one end. This should eventually be large enough to be a stopper. You will now want to put that aside and grab another small cylinder. You will want to cut these about 1 inch. You will want four of these. With these four, you will then cut 45 degree angles at the end. You will then glue two of these to the stopper. This is where the rubber bands will connect to.

For the second part of the contraption, you will want to get another small cylinder and cut it into three, 2 1/4 inches. You will want to use the compass and make a hole in two of the small cylinders about half an inch from an end. In the third small cylinder, make a hole about 1 inch away from an end. You will then take a tooth pick and slide it into the holes with the cylinder with the farthest hole from the end in the middle.

Gluing Time

Get your glue gun ready. First, you will want to get the remaining medium cylinder and keep adding the cylinders to make it look like the image. You want to place the first cylinder closer to the front of the gun because it allows room for the piston to move easier. The other cylinders will be placed closer to the end of the gun. Once you have glued 3 of the medium cylinders, you will want to glue them on two large cylinders. This is the trigger. You then will glue on a medium cylinder, then cut up a medium cylinder into pieces about 1 1/2 inches for the handle. After all of that is glued, you will glue the 45-degree small cylinder that you put aside and glue it to the gun to make it look like the photo. You will then glue the other contraption on at the end of the gun. You will slide a smaller cylinder into the bigger cylinder and cut it to your liking. The end result should look like the last picture.

Making Bullets

You will want to get another small cylinder and cut it into pieces that are 1 1/2 inches. You will put hot glue, in the end, to add weight to the bullet.

Add Your Rubber Bands

Put two of the rubber bands on each of the 45-degree rungs. I had to add a cylinder to the bottom of the piston for the gun to work. Add a rubber band to keep the lever from releasing the piston right away. And you're done. I hope you enjoyed this instructable!
