Making a Fleece Tie Blanket
Having a tie blanket can be one of the coolest things to have. They’re very warm and may be one the simplest things to make! There are hundreds of fabric patterns to choose from, making your blanket unique to any other.
Supplies
There is no real hard part to making a tie blanket, so that is a good thing. The material needed for making a tie blanket include blanket fabric of at least two and a half yards (fleece), fabric cutting board (optional), scissors, ruler for measuring, and marker.
Getting Ready
From the selected fabric, lay one fabric on top of the other and align it up from all four corners. Using a table or the floor is the best option, to make sure there is enough room to use the workspace. It is recommended to have a cutting board underneath the fabric, so that nothing gets damaged.
Marking Your Blanket
After aligning the corners, measure at least two inches from one edge and mark it. Do this with every mark, making sure they are one inch apart. When that is finished, then from each two-inch mark measure up five inches with the ruler and mark it. Repeat this step at every two- inch mark from the edge of the fabric. If there is a cutting board underneath the fabric, for the most part it shouldn’t move but always be sure to check that it hasn’t.
Cutting Strips
When all the marks have been made to each side on the fabric, grab the scissors and start cutting from the bottom up to the five -inch marks. These cuts will make the strips to tie knots. Make sure to cut through both pieces of fabric, saving the confusion of missing one and having to find the missing piece. Work all the way around the blanket cutting the strips to make the knots.
Tying Knots
Once all the strips have been cut, then start to tie them making double knots. When all the strips have been tied into knots, make sure to wash the blanket removing any unwanted fleece.
Conclusion
Overall, the tie blanket is a very satisfying and accomplishing project. Most blankets cut and tie easily. The measuring can be a good way to test your tedious skills. Also, the warm freshly new blanket will feel good to sleep or take a nap with!
