Making a Draw Knife
This knife is made from reclaimed materials. The thinking about it probably took a couple of months, the actual putting it together a couple of hours over 3 afternoons.
Supplies
An old dropsaw blade. Nice steel. 10 inch
A piece of timber curtain rod 35mm diameter approximately.
2 screws
2 hose clamps.
A piece of 4x2 for a jig.

Draw Knife
I've been making bush furniture from the iron bark growing around our home. I needed a draw knife to remove the bark. I was using a machete up to this point, that's a bit ordinary.
The blade is made from an old drop saw blade that was discarded because of missing teeth and the handles are cut from timber curtain rod.
I think the secret to making it effective was the time spent on the grinder. I set up a jig to keep the angle the same.
The blade was cut using an angle grinder and I cut the handles on the band saw. The slots to accommodate the blade were cut with a table saw, I used a jig made from a piece of timber. This kept it under control on the saw.
The blade is removable so I can put it back on the grinder to sharpen it if I need to.
It's held in place with 2 hose clamps left over from a radiator repair.
