Making a Ceiling Lamp More Energy Efficient.
My solar powered home uses low wattage led lighting. These lights are in decorative fixtures. The problem is that the diffuser bowl is painted white for much higher wattage bulbs. This is not acceptable for the 9 watt leds I use.
Here is how I fixed this issue.
Removing the Diffuser.
Using my step ladder I carefully removed the diffuser bowl from the fixture. Damn these things are heavy glass and I wished there were polycarbonate.
The Paint Removal Tool.
This wire brush attachment for my cordless drill is what will strip off the lumen sapping white paint on the inside of the bowl.
Stripping!
Putting my drill and brush to the test, I carefully began removing the paint.
One of my doggies caught then ate a large locust during this job. Good for her!

Comparison!
OK here are original and stripped diffusers side by side. More light is passing through the stripped diffuser as I intend.
Completion!
Now the modified diffusers are back on their fixtures. More brighter the rooms are now with the same wattage led lighting!
Energy has been saved and I'm quite happy.
