Making Your Own (Seesaw) Double LED Dimmer

1.jpg
Double LED Dimmer

Today, I'll show you how to make the Double LED Dimmer with only 555timer chips along with common components.

Similar to a Single MOSFET/Transistor (Either PNP, NPN, P-channel, or N-Channel) that adjusts the brightness of a LED, this one uses two MOSFET, P-channel and N-channel (I don't know if transistors would work), also adjusting both brightness but opposing each other. because of the cycle. usually, the LED N-channel will be brighter if the duty cycle is less than 50% while the opposing MOSFET LED P-channel will be dim. But if the duty cycle is above 50%, the LED P-channel will be brighter, but LED N-channel will be dim, this continues if you keep adjusting it by the potentiometer, that adjusting the duty cycle.

This is very useful if you use Cool and Warm White LEDs.

The video will demonstrate how it works above the introduction.

Prepare the Parts and Tools

ICs

555Timer Chip -1x

with 8 pin socket -1x

MOSFET

IRFI9Z34G (P-channel) - 1x

IRFIZ34G (N-channel) -1x

Resistor

1K - 3x

1K - 2x (for testing)

potentiometer 100K -1x

Diode

1n4007 - 2x

Ceramic Capacitor

code-104 100nF -1x

code-10 -1x

Others

Purfboard(PCB)- 1x the size depends on you.

Screw Terminals -3x

Jumper Wire

LEDs for testing

LEDs (your LEDs that want to use here)

Tools

whiteboard (for testing)

Pliers and Soldering Iron

Connect to the Whiteboard and Test

Test.PNG

(It would be best to test it first before soldering it directly to the purfboard)

the schematic is above, follow the connections to each component and short it as possible to reduce unwanted interference. If you're done, power it by 12V and look for problems.

If you encounter a problem, you should solve it by,

-Check connections if there are misconnections.

-Not power yet, or backward power connections.

-if using transistors like (PNP, and NPN).- (It would be better to use MOSFETs for now.)

If you can't still solve the problem, feel free to comment below and answer it for you.

Once everything working it should be, then you are ready to move to step 3.

Solder Your Circuit to the Purfboard

Finished.PNG

The size of the purfboard will depend on your choice,

But I recommend using a smaller purfboard, the schematic is still the same, but screw terminals were added to the purfboard for connections of Input power, P-channel, and N- channel.

be sure to solder all components as close to each other as possible.

The soldering process takes 1 hour to finish.

If you're done, then power the circuit and check for problems.

Again, If you encounter a problem, you should solve it by,
-Check connections if there are misconnections.

-Not power yet, or backward power connections.

-shorted soldered paths.

It might not be perfect, But it works anyway.
