Measure Your Water Hose
Lay your tape measure on your workbench and mark the table for ease of measurement. If you are out working the land, you can measure and mark the line with a known measurement like the old hose or a piece of equipment. Make sure you stretch the rubber hose to your desired length for a perfect fit.
Cut Water Hose
PERFORM WITH EXTREME CAUTION USE CUT RESISTANT GLOVES AND EYE PROTECTION: After marking the line to the correct length, you're sure to cut the hose using a hose cutter. Make sure you have a clean and straight cut; this will ensure no water leaks.
Insert Crimp Fittings
Although this may be a simple task, many forget to add the other crimp fittings. Ideally, you want to place both fittings on at the same time, so this mistake doesn't happen to you. Another key point to this process is to make sure that you have the correct fittings; in my case, I'm using a size 18 for this demonstration.
Insert Water Compression Fittings
PERFORM WITH EXTREME CAUTION USE CUT RESISTANT GLOVES AND EYE PROTECTION: This step is most likely the most difficult. The trick to this is adding soap to the hose, as demonstrated in the video below. Start the barb to the water quick disconnect it evenly, then press down firmly and straight. The key to this is ensuring that the hose seats at the yellow stop on the fitting. If not, this may cause a water leak.
Crimp the Fittings
PERFORM WITH EXTREME CAUTION USE CUT RESISTANT GLOVES AND EYE PROTECTION: This step is slightly tricky. In this step, you'll need to use the crimps to compress the dog ears on the crimp fitting evenly, as described in the video at the bottom. Ensure the dog ears are crimped evenly and touched to prevent water leaks or hose fitting failure! This does happen if not crimped properly.
Bringing These Steps Together
In this video, I covered many detailed step-by-step instructions on to assemble a quick coupling water line.
The most important is Safety while performing any repair work, as outlined throughout the video.
And remember always being prepared especially working the Land.
