Making Stamps With Erasers

This is an easy stamp making process with erasers available around home. Stamp making is a sub process of lithography technique. Lithography works with stone, metal or wood. Stamps are mostly made with linoleum. White eraser comes closest in texture. So here is it.

Supplies

We will require white eraser from stationary store, cutters, dark pencil, scrap papers, imagination.

Preparing

Take the eraser and cut it to shape. This large eraser can make 2 small stamps. Trace the eraser on to paper. Then draw what you want to make. Make it darker with pencil.

Cut the paper to shape and press it onto the eraser with thumb and rub it for sometime. Make sure the paper does not slide on the eraser. The eraser will absorb the drawing on the paper. Observe that the image is a mirror of the image.

When you are satisfied with your image, start cutting out the extra rubber from the eraser to leave the stamp part behind. Finish it of with some extra cuts if required.

Take a stamp pad and try out your newly created stamp. Trim the stamp if need to do so.

You can make a text stamp by drawing straightaway drawing on the eraser. Just make sure that you have to draw the mirror of the text. Here I am making the initials of my kid for him to use the stamp. Cut out the eraser in the same way you cut the previous eraser. Try out your new stamp.
