Making Lasagne

We are a bunch of Western Culinary Institue students showing everyone a great way to make lasagne. There is no real recipe just assembly instructions. Lasagne is an Italian dish consisting of wide noodles, marinara sauce, vegetables (optional), meat (optional), and lots of cheese. We are going to walk through the making of a vegetarian lasagne and one with ground beef.

Find the Freshest Ingredients You Can.

When making a good lasagne find some fresh vegetables for the best results. Mainly find some potent garlic, basil, and onions which will allow for that true Italian flavor to come through.

The Sauce

Preparation of the Vegetables

You will need to:
Destem the fresh spinach.
Cut the eggplant 1/2"x1/2"x5", leaving the skin on.
Julienne the peppers and shitake mushrooms.

Put down a layer of sauce in a 9"x11", then put a layer of noodles, fallowed by a an inch layer of cheese. Next put in you r fillings half the eggplant, mushrooms, or ground beef. Cover in sauce and put down another layer of noodles. Layer an inch of cheese on the noodles then put the spinach, peppers and the rest of the eggplant. Top with cheese and chopped herbs (rosemary, thyme, and basil)

Baking and Plating

Bake at 375 degrees for forty minutes, until browned on top. Serve with toasted baguette
