Makey Makey Sound Project
This is how you make a tile that creates a sound by being stepped on. This step-by-step process will introduce you to the world of circuits. With a fairly easy to understand project that almost anyone can do you will gain further knowledge into how circuits work, and what they are used for.
Supplies
1 Makey Makey set
2 foam boards
1 exacto knife
2 sheets of cardstock
wire
tape
copper tape
aluminum foil
aligator clips
markers
Let's Get Started
Gather materials and cut a rectangular hole through one of the foam boards.
Make the Internal Connections
Using tape, attach aluminum foil to 1 sheet of card stock and the uncut foam board.
Set Up the External Connections
Strip the ends of two 8 inch wires and use copper tape to connect each one to the aluminum sheets.
Continue the Internal Connections
Tape The Card Stock With Aluminum Foil To The Cut Foam Board So The Foil Is Facing Towards The Hole.
Attach the Pieces
Tape The Cut Foam Board And Card Stock To The Other Foam Board So The Aluminum Foil Sheets Are Facing Each Other.
Make It Look Nice
Draw whatever design you want on the second sheet of card stock and tape it over the other sheet of card stock.
Connect the Makey Makey
connect 2 alligator clips to the exposed wires. Connect one to ground, and the other to space on the Makey Makey.
Create the Code
In scratch connect the "When __ key is pressed" and the "start sound __" blocks. Then in sounds choose a sound that you want to play and select it in the "start sound __" block.
Finalize
Finally connect the Makey Makey to your computer to and press down on (or step on) the card stock side to make the sound.
