Make the Perfect Instant Noodles!

Hello, this is a tutorial I made to pass on the priceless knowledge I myself have learned from a master in the art years ago.

I use the Mama brand's chicken flavoured instant noodles, the "jumbo" pack to be exact. Its net weigh is 90 grams, or about 3.17 ounces if you're into that sort of thing, and it costs 0,69 euros or 0.94 US dollars. Should you be interested, I live in Finland where these and other instant noodle brands are becoming increasingly common.

Items Needed

You will only need the following items:

  • A pack of instant noodles
  • A soup bowl
  • A spoon
  • A kettle

..and about fifteen minutes of your time.

Break Up the Noodles

Before opening the pack, carefully break up the noodles into little bits. Use your fingers, not your palms, as using your palms can make the pack pop open and create a mess.

Open the Pack

Now that the noodles inside are broken up, open the pack carefully. Inside, you will find three (sometimes two or just one) mysterious packs. They are usually the spices (chili, etc.), the seasoning (depends on what flavor your noodles are), and the oil (depending on the brand and flavor, this might or might not have flavour of its own).

Sometimes there is no separate chili pack, other times there's no oil, but they all together create the aroma and taste it's supposed to have.

Boil Some Water

Put some water (2,5 - 5 dl, or 1 - 2 cups) to a kettle, and turn it on. You want to get the water as hot as possible, so with practice you'll learn to time it perfectly, so that just as the water is fully boiling, you're ready to pour it in.

Prepare the Noodles

Pour the noodles in a bowl. Add the seasoning, spice, and oil.

Protip: This Is a Perfect Time to Clean Up Your Mess

While waiting for the water to boil, you might find yourself bored, waiting to fulfill your stomach.

Hey, wait a minute! Perhaps you could skip the procrastinating and clean up. Put the seasonings etc. in the now empty pack of noodles, and deliver it to the trash. Congratulations, you can now eat with a good conscience!

It's Finally Time to Pour in the Water!

Now that your water is boiling as can be, you can pour it in with the noodles. Only pour so much that the noodles are almost submerged.

Mix everything with your spoon as to get water to all the noodles, and to mix the seasoning evenly.

The Final Wait

Now, let it be for 3-5 minutes and mix it up every minute. If there are any larger pieces, try to break them up and submerge the with the spoon.

You know they're ready when they are quite soft, and you can't quite see the water without moving the noodles.

Now it's time to enjoy!
