Make an Ornithopter by 3D Design Tinkercad

Hello, I am a student in the faculty of engineering and the design purpose is to create a new design for an ornithopter in colors or shapes so we can understand the importance of 3D to design new things and make sure the design is good be fore printing it.

Supplies

All you need in this project is an account in tinkercad.

Choose Your Design

start by adding some cylinders and some cubes, and change them to create a bird shape with big wings. after that create the design you want and see if this design can be good or it needs modification.

in my case, I added a bird head but it wasn't practical so i removed ir

Add the Power

in every ornithopter, it needs a power or mechanical part to make the wings flap so it can fly. in my case, I added the battery and motor but you can find other resources as a rubber band or a spring car.

you will notice that you will change the design to adapt the new changes, that's normal

Add the Rotary Parts

any ornithopter needs to move the mechanical energy from the motor or rubber to the wings. In order to do that we need the rotary ports which consist of the gear or rotary circle and the holders.

Printing

In the case of only design, you can do anything you want even if it is not possible.

In the case of 3D printing, you need to make sure that the screw fits if the project has any, don't print the motor or the power or anything from the power, and don't print the wings since the wings are made from the cardboard box not plastic, instead:

make sure to make the supporters in this image so you can add the cardboard wing

make sure you use light materials so the ornithopter can fly.

that's all.

I hope you enjoy
