Make a Wooden Puzzle

Making puzzles are a fun and easy way to get into woodworking! They also make great gifts too.

Draw the Pieces

This is the most interesting part. If you have never done this before,(There is no way you have, right?) your pieces will turn out really wonky and misshapen. That is completely fine! This is art, so have fun, Try making little pieces and big pieces! Make sure that the pieces don't get to thin, or they will break.

Cutting Time!

If you were really desperate, you could use a coping saw, but it would take you all day. I am using a jigsaw, and it is so fun! When cutting, you do NOT need to follow your drawn lines closely at all. if you find that you want to change the shape of an interlocking piece, go right ahead! The lines were only there as a general guide anyway. as you cut, your skills will improve, and toward the end of cutting the pieces you will cut like a boss! You can cut the board in half, following the lines if you want. You can kind of see that in the picture above.

Finishing the Pieces

After cutting, the pieces will have rough edges. you can clean them up with a knife or a belt sander. If you remember, my wood had paper on the back. The belt sander took if off really nicely. You can use regular sand paper too!

All Done!

You could've made art on your wood before cutting, but I prefer my puzzles with nothing on them. It's harder and more fun to figure out! Thank you for viewing this instructable; It made my day! See you later!
