Make a Solar Powered Incubator

This is a solar powered incubator which will enable poor farmers to gain an extra income and also help in women empowerment

The temperature required to be maintained is 99.5F degrees

The humidity needed to be maintained is 60% for first 18 days and 90% for the last three days.

Materials Required

1) Styrofoam Box (2 ft x 1.5 ft) - Local Stationary Shop

2) Transparent Glass (10 inches x 8 inches)

3) Hygrometer (to measure temperature and Humidity) - you can buy it from Ebay/Amazon

4) 5 watts filament bulb - Local electric shop

5) Dimmer or ceiling fan controller - Local electric shop

6) Switch - Local electric shop

7) Electric wire - Local electric shop

8) Solar panel

9)Dc to Ac converter

10) Charge Controller

11) 12V Battery

Make the Box..

1) Cut a square shaped part on the top side of the Styrofoam box.

2) Insert the glass slab into the hole.

3) Using duct tape seal it completely.

Inside the Box

1) Attach the bulb into the box through the socket as shown in the picture

2) Keep the hygrometer inside

3) Put hay to keep the egg firmly held

4) Keep a bowl of water in order to maintain humidity

Outside the Box Controls..

1)Attach the dimmer to the bulb as shown in the picture

This dimmer is used to control the temperature of the incubator. When the temperature drops it can be used to increase and vice versa. The dimmer is attached to the incubator using double sided tape

The Power Harnessing..

1) Power is harnessed using the solar panel

2) It is attache to the charge controller which maintains the charge flow

3) The charge controller charges the battery

4) The battery is connected to the Dc to Ac converter.

5) The converter is then attached to the bulb through the dimmer.

The above picture demonstrates it efficiently..

Important Note..

1) The temperature required to be maintained is 99.5F degrees

2) The humidity needed to be maintained is 60% for first 18 days and 90% for the last three days.

3) Turn the eggs 3 times a day until the 18th day to prevent sticking of the embryo on the shell.

4) 21st day they hatch

Note: Humidity can be controlled by keeping the small container with water. The water can be increased or decreased accordingly to maintain the humidity.
