Make a Rug With Carpet Remnants and Duct Tape
Carpet remnants can be really cheap or free, and rugs can be expensive. This simple technique can make a rug out of scrap or otherwise unusable carpet remnants. Carpet remnants can be obtained from a carpet store(Got mine from Menards), left over from installs, or out of dumpsters of new construction.
Not necessarily great if you are looking for perfect results for your living spaces, but great for shops, offices, or other places where aesthetics aren't required.
Supplies:
- Carpet color and pattern of your choice, the stuff shown is exactly what I was looking for, and got 12' x 5' for about $20 from Menards.
- Duct Tape, used here is black Gorilla Tape. Which goes with the dark grey just fine.
- Scissors
Apply the Tape
- Trim the carpet to your required length and width.
- Clean up the loose strands and threads at the edges
- Measure and cut a piece of duct tape.
- From either side, apply the tape on center, so half will be on top, half will be on bottom.
- Apply from one side and rub down well.
- Flip over and carefully fold the tape onto the next side. Rub it down.
- Continue for the 3 remaining sides.
- Again, rub the tape down really well.
- Start using your new rug!
