Make Your Own Swimming Device (Learn to Swim).

A University of Johannesburg Industrial Design research project. Funding was made possible by Tshwane Univerity of Technology.

The intention of this project was to assist learn to swim within government schools as a low-cost option. This design is meant to be used under the supervision of an experienced swimming instructor.

Add food colouring in the bottle (optional) Securely close the cap.

Cut the 32mm pipe the shoulder width of the child or 370mm.

Heat the pipe evenly all around for +- 1:30 min.

Push the pipe over the bottle cap and bottleneck while hot.

Secure the pipe on the bottleneck with a rope, cable tie or wire while it cools down.

Heat the other side of the pipe evenly all around for +- 1:30 min.

Push the pipe over the bottle cap and bottle neck while hot.

Secure the pipe on the bottle neck with a rope, cable tie or wire while it cools down.
