Make Your Own Glitter
Ever wanted to make your own glitter? Ever wondered how glitter is made?
We love making our own art and craft supplies. The process is fun, and kids feel such a sense of pride when creating with materials they made themselves. Besides that, homemade supplies are usually much cheaper. Here is an easy and frugal way to make your own glitter at home.
What Do You Need?
You need-
1) Epsom salt or another preferred salt variety
2) Food coloring or liquid watercolors
3) Zip seal bags
Coloring the Salt
Add the desired amount of salt to a bag, one bag for each color of glitter you wish to make. We used Epsom salt as it has a natural sparkle to it, but any salt will work. Mix several drops of food coloring or washable watercolors into each bag.
Seal the bag and mix the coloring into the salt.
Drying the Mixture
Once the salt is fully saturated open the bags and leave the salt to dry in the bags. Leave it for a day. You'll be excited after seeing your home-made glitter!
Final Touches
Now, add the glitter into some cans or containers! Congrats! You've made your own glitter!
