Make Your Own Butterfly Notebook

Portada-01.png

I love to write and study, so I usually need notebooks, sometimes I use those that come for various subjects, but it has always seemed a problem to me that some subjects run out of sheets while others do not, so I decided to make my own notebook, one that sheets can be put in or taken out as desired.

This notebook was made with butterflies since they are my favorite animal, however, you can paint what you love the most and even put your name on it to make it personalized!

Supplies

  • Two thick cardboard (23 x 29 cm)
  • Butter paper
  • Masking tape
  • Acrylic paint
  • Resin and its catalyst
  • Sticks for mixing and applying the resin
  • Binding rings
  • Letter size bond paper
  • Index dividers

Choosing the Image

001-01.png

Find the image that you like the most of what you love (in my case butterflies and I will leave you attached the image that I found and took from Pinterest for this project)

Print the image.

Draw it on butter paper with a pencil.

Copy the Image to the Cover

002-01.png

On a 23 x 29 cm thick cardboard copy the butterflies (for this, the side with which the pencil was drawn is left against the cardboard, masking tape is used on the edges so that it does not move and with a pencil it is colored on the drawn lines of the butterfly)

Shadows

Before painting the butterflies to give an interesting effect to the background, you can paint the background with acrylic paint. What I did was, with foam, I took a darker blue and paint the corners and gradually I took a lighter blue and with small strokes with the foam blur the different shades of blue.

Paint the Butterflies

To paint the butterflies I used thin brushes. First I painted the lighter parts as beige and then orange, red and blue, when I finished painting the different colors I let it dry and finally I painted black as you can see in the image.

Holes and Rings

Make the necessary holes to be able to put the rings later.

Resin

006-01.png

Mix the resin and its catalyst in equal parts (or as indicated in the instructions) and apply this on the paint. It is ideal to let it is as smooth as possible and without bubbles. After this let it dry in a ventilated place until the next day.

It will protect the paint and make the cover really hard.

Dividers and Sheets

It is necessary to open holes for the spacers if they do not come with the holes for the rings that we are going to put.

I printed the sheets with a grid of different colors (which you can find attached here)

Open holes for the leaves and if desired you can round the corners.
