Make Plastic Sheet From Plastic Paint Bucket

Hello there,

This instructable will guide you through the process of making any plastic piece into a flat sheet, whether it's a bucket, a mug, a bottle or anything that you need to make flatten.

In this process Heat is applied to achieve the final step. So here we used Press Iron to apply heat, else you can also use a Hot air gun. It will be much convenient.

Tools & Materials

Plastic Paint bucket (or any plastic material)
Press Iron or Hot air gun (for heating purpose)
Hacksaw (for cutting)
Flat wood piece (for pressing support)

Cut the Bucket TOP and BOTTOM

First we need to cut the top and bottom part of our paint bucket, so that only the cylindrical part remains and it's easy to turn it into a sheet.

Cut in the MIDDLE

Next. cut the cylinder in the middle, so that it can be flattened and we can apply heat now.

Apply HEAT

Now here is the main tricky part. In this step we will use our Press Iron here to apply heat all over the surface. You can also use a Hot air gun if you have.

Now place a paper above the plastic so that is does not get sticky during the process. Then gently press the iron and apply heat to all over the places evenly as possible.

Keep heating about 15 to 20 minutes and make it evenly Hot all the places.

Let It COOL

When the sheet will be hot enough then, place a FLAT piece of wood or piece of Tile above it and keep weight on it, so that it remains flattened.

Then let it cool for about 2 to 3 minutes. So, after cooling you will finally get the FLAT piece of you plastic sheet. Repeat this process to any of your plastic item and get a sheet instantly.
