Maka Scythe From Soul Eater

Had no prep pics of this again as I made it last year but this was the final thing and my friend using it in costume :)
I made it using a mop pole as the handle. I then stuck 3 layers or corragated carboard together cut in to the shape of the scythe blade. I considered ply wood but thought it make not have been strong enough.
After glueing the cardboard together I covered it in about 3 layers of paper mache for rigidity. Once it was all dye I pained the red panel then masked it and spray painted the black. Unfortunalty the spray paint bled over and I couldn't paint over it So I had to re mask it and paint the masking tape. I think it was saved as it looked more like it had a border but I almost ruined it!
I used a carboard tube for the eye section and again mache'd over it for strength. I hand painted the eye using acrylic paint. My friend was happy with the final effect and she got lots of comments on her final outfit!
