Magnetic Bracelet From an Old Sock
I'm fairly sure I'm not the only one who has held pins/ nails/ screws ect in my mouth whilst doing tailoring and house work.
Being able to hold these things with a magnet on your wrist severely decrees the chances of swallowing things that can really hurt you.
(Really don't hold these things with your lips,, its a terrible idea)
The solution is a quick to make magnetic bracelet.
What You Need
To make this you will need the following:
1 odd sock
1 or more magnet or magnets
1 pair of scissors
some tacking pins
a needle and thread (here im using a little kit that cane in a Christmas cracker)
Cut the Sock
Cut the sock above the heal.
If the sock is striped like mine is you might want to follow a stripe, if not then its not really going to hurt your bracelet.
Put the Half Sock on Your Wrist
Put the half sock on your wrist.
Make sure that the outside of the sock is touching your skin.
Put the Magnets on the Sock Half and Roll It Up
Put the magnets on the sock half and roll it up.
This will enclose the magnets.
Try to do this as neatly as possible (its not necessary but makes the whole thing look a lot nicer)
Pin the Edges
Pin the edged and then CAREFULLY slide the the bracelet off your wrist.
Sew Around the Edge
Sew around the edge.
This will make sure your bracelet continues to function as a magnetic bracelet.. (If you want to have easy access to your magnets you don't need to follow these last steps. But if you want to make something that looks and functions beautifully the last steps make all the difference)
Enjoy Your New Bracelet.
Enjoy your new bracelet.
Its great for all sorts of things. holding screws when your installing curtains, nails when installing pictures and holding pins when sewing..
I'm sure there are tons of things this bracelet can help with. Let me know if you think of one that I haven't thought of yet.
I should probably add that if your sewing then you probably don't need the magnet. You could just use some foam or fluff of any description an carefully insert and hold your taking pins there.
