Magnetic Fire: Move Fire With Magnetic Field

How to Make a Magnetic Fire

How to create a magnetic fire that can be controlled and moved using a magnetic field.

To create a fire that can be controlled using a magnet what we need is a flammable ferromagnetic material. That is a material that is both flammable and ferromagnetic. Once you create such a material you can simply ignite it and move the flame using a magnet.

Preparation

1) To a small glass add about 6 ml of flammable oil (WD-40 is good).

2) Add one spoon (about 8 gram) of Magnetite powder (Fe3O4).

3) Stir until you get a uniform black mixture.

Usage: Controlling Fire With a Magnetic Field

Put one spoon of the flammable ferromagnetic oil on a glass plate and ignite.

Use the magnet from below the plate to control the flame.

Placing the magnet directly below the flame will increase flame size.

Once the magnet is below the flame move it along the plate plane, and the flame will move along.

To extinguish the fire move the magnet rapidly sideway below the fire or cover the flame with a small bowl.
