Magazine Quilt
In today's story, a grandmother and her grandchild crocheted a blanket together. I don't know how many of you have crochet hooks just lying around your house, and moreover, I don't actually know how to crochet, so let's make a "quilt" out of an old magazine instead.
Supplies
-a magazine, catalog, or other colorful junkmail
-scissors
-glue
-a piece of construction paper
Pick Some Pages.
Take your magazine or catalog, and pick out a few pages that you like the look of. I chose colorful pages that all looked very different from one another. When you've chosen the pages you want, tear them carefully out of the magazine. You can use pieces of as many pages as you like. I chose four, all of different colors.
Cut the Pages Down.
You want your pages to become squares instead of rectangles. Fold the top corner down, lining up the edges. Then take your scissors and trim off the long rectangle at the bottom. Repeat this with all of your magazine pages.
Fold the Pages.
Take each folded magazine square one at time. They're already folded into triangle shapes from the last step. Now, fold the triangle in half to make a smaller triangle. Then fold it in half again. And then twice more! Now you should have a small triangle. Repeat this with your other pages, too.
Cut the Pages Into Small Triangles.
Unfold each square. They should all be covered in triangle-shaped creases. Now it's easy to follow the edges of the folds and cut out lots of small triangles. Do this with all of your pages.
Make Your Quilt.
Grab your construction paper. Now comes the fun part. You get to piece your quilt together! Make a pattern with the triangles. When you're happy with it, you can glue it down.
Now you have a paper quilt!
