A major problem when going back to school is being disorganized. Many students tend to fall behind early in the year because of a lack of planning and organization. Whether it be not using an agenda or forgetting to take notes, the start of the school year can be difficult and cause unnecessary stress. This backpack is designed to be a combination of a backpack and an accordion folder, and will allow both quick and easy access to each and every item you need to be successful this school year and reduce stress by utilizing magnets to revolutionize the zipper.

Features:

  • Individual pockets for each item (Notebooks, Agenda, Binder, etc)
  • Flexible magnetic strip to replace zipper (quicker opening/closing)
  • Built in rechargeable/replaceable Lithium Ion batteries to charge devices on the go
  • Comfortable shoulder straps with pencil strap
  • Misc. Storage pocket

Individual Pockets allow for a student to organize their backpack and bypass the pointless digging around for a specific notebook or paper. These pockets allow you to have a designated section of your backpack for each item so you always know exactly where to look for each of your things. There will be a separate pocket for each of the following: Agenda, notebook(s), text books, binder/folders, computer (well cushioned to avoid damage), phone, and writing utensils and cases.

Flexible Magnetic Strip make accessing each pocket much quicker than pulling open and pulling closed zippers. Just pulling on these secure magnets will give you immediate access to whatever item you need.

Built in Batteries so you never come to class with a dead computer or phone again. easily accessible USB and USBC ports will allow you to charge your computer and your phone. Long lasting, powerful, quickly rechargeable Lithium Ion Batteries so you don't have to worry about swapping it out every time it dies. The pocket for your phone will have a built-in wireless charger so you dot have to deal with a cord.

Comfortable shoulder straps so your shoulders never get sore, and also features an elastic loop to store and access a pencil for when you need to quickly jot something down.

Misc. Storage Pocket to hold any other necessities you want. Chargers, pencil case, gum, erasers, you name it, you can store any extras in here.

The Idea

I encountered a reoccuring problem when I went back to school. I was all over the place and missed important information while rummaging through my bag. The modern type of bag just wasn't working for me, and I needed a solution. Something fast, organized, and helpful that I could use easily in class. Thats when it hit me - magnets could be used as a replacement and upgrade to the current zippers.

Model

Step 1 was to come up with a simplistic and effective design for a backpack. I needed to make a basic body for a convienent and comfortable backpack. This included an appealing shape, familiar look, and a design made for everyone. As I went about creating, I made sure that its model was not hard on the eyes, as well as having enough room for effective storage.

The Mag-zipper and Organization

This new backpack needed something that made it stand out, not just visually, but in use as well. The magnetic zipper helped to combine aesthetic and convienence. The magnetic strip would allow access to my things at a moments notice, without the need to zip and unzip a typical backpack. My other issue was organization. compared to the time spent fishing through my things, the time required to unzip a zipper is insignificant. So, I designed this backpack to contain enough space for each category of items: one for your binders/folders, one for your agenda, one for your notebooks, and one for your computer.

Texturing and Add-ons

With all of my concepts created, I just needed to throw them all together, make it look better, and make the finishing touches. adding a carrying handle, side storage, and a phone charger pocket, along with an appealing texture was all I needed. Finally, I had a model that I was happy with. A cool design mixed with convienence and usefulness, my dream backpack was here. A place for automatic device charging, and easy, organized access to my items.
