Mac N Cheese With Hot Dogs
Mac n Cheese is a quick and easy meal I can come home and make after a long day at school. I’ve always been a big fan of the blue box of Kraft mac n cheese, especially the character ones (yes I know I’m 17, almost 18, but this is a no judging area). Anyways, I’m going to show you how quick and easy it is to make a delicious bowl of mac n cheese with hot dogs (which makes it so much more yummy).
Ingredients:
- 6 cups water
- 2 tbsp of margarine or butter
- 3 tbsp milk
- 2 hot dogs
Step 1: Preparation
After gathering the pot, measuring cups and ingredients, open the box of Kraft Mac n Cheese and take out the cheese then place it with the other ingredients. You’re then going to want to fill your pot with 6 cups of water and place it on the stove to boil.
Step 2: Cooking the Macaroni
Turn on the stove to a high so the water can come to a boil. When the water has come to a boil pour in the macaroni and let cook for 7 to 9 minutes or until tender. You will have to remember to stir the noodles occasionally.
Step 3: Get the Ingredients Ready
While the macaroni is cooking you should grab the milk and butter from the fridge. You can either use a half stick of butter and cut it into even chunks or as I would usually use the simple tub of butter and measure it out using a 1 tbsp measuring spoon 2 times. You’re then going to reuse the 1 tbsp 3 more times and fill it with milk to add in when the macaroni comes to a boil, along with the cheese. You will also need to grab the 2 hot dogs but don’t heat them until after the other ingredients have been added in and are ready to mix.
Getting the ingredients ready is a very important step because when you and perhaps the person you’re sharing with is beyond starving, having the ingredients ready will help the process go much quicker so that you can get the mac n cheese in your tummy :)
Step 4: Drain the Macaroni
This is a bit more of a difficult (and perhaps dangerous for those with an unsteady hand) step for some. Place a strainer in the sink, turn off the stove and carefully bring the pot over to the sink (the pot will be very hot, along with the steam so be very careful with this step). After pouring the macaroni into the strainer give it slight shake to make sure all the water is out… we don’t want any extra water inside the noodles.
Then return the macaroni back into the pot and place back on the stove.
Step 5: Add and Stir
This step needs a bit of concentration as well. After returning the drained macaroni to the stove add the butter in first while the stove is still hot, that way the butter is able to melt faster as it is being stirred. As the butter is melting, cook the 2 hot dogs in the microwave for about 45 seconds. You can then add the milk and cheese into the pot and stir until fully combined.
When stirring, remember to scrape the sides of the pot for any missed cheese and/or butter that could have gotten stuck to the sides. After everything is fully stirred and combined, remove the hot dogs from the microwave and place on a cutting board for a quicker and easier process when cutting the hot dogs, you then will need to take out a small cutting knife. You’re going to want to cut the hot dogs into tiny pieces so it is easier to chew alongside the macaroni.
Step 6: Enjoy!
Once you’ve added in the hot dogs and mixed them in with the cheesy orange goodness we call ‘mac n cheese’, evenly serve out the macaroni into the bowls of yourself and whomever you’re sharing with (I’m not much of sharer so I would usually serve myself a bit more). I personally use a fork when eating mac n cheese, but a spoon works just as well, it’s your decision on that one.
Now you’re ready to enjoy your hot bowl of some very cheesy and delicious Mac n Cheese with hot dogs :)
