MIPI Screen FPC Adapter

This tutorial explains how to use FPC (Flexible Printed Circuit) to create an adapter board for driving MIPI screens. We will show how to connect the MIPI signal from an existing development board using this adapter while maintaining the original screen's backlight drive.

Supported Screens

The adapter board in this tutorial is currently compatible with the 5.0-inch XH8379A MIPI screen, and it also supports the NT35516 screen, as they have identical definitions and interfaces. The touch controller used is the FT5436.

The D133 supports RGB, LVDS, and MIPI interfaces, which is why we designed an adapter board to extract the MIPI signal from the original development board’s RGB interface and connect it to the mobile screen interface. The backlight drive uses the original RGB screen's backlight circuitry.

Key Considerations

Backlight Drive Current Check

When using the adapter board, it is crucial to ensure that the backlight drive current meets the requirements. If the current is too high, it may damage the backlight or even the drive circuitry. Therefore, special attention should be paid to the stability of the backlight current when making connections.


FPC Connection Method

We use FPC to connect the screen, eliminating the hassle of external ribbon cables and connectors. The FPC connection is flexible, making it suitable for applications where space is tight or custom shapes are needed. Additionally, if more strength is required, reinforcements can be added to key areas of the FPC.
