Description
MC-3 is an astromech droid that helps out the Resistance on the Tantive IV. It has two articulating wheels that allow speed to navigate the halls and the ability to overcome larger obstacles. There are two tool compartments available on the sides of MC-3 and the sensing unit is supported by 4 independent shocks. MC-3 is a loyal droid, only displaying slight skepticism when responding to orders.
I decided to enter this contest as a way to learn Fusion 360 as I am usually a Solidworks user. I basically started at the base, wanting to make the wheels an important design element of the droid and worked my way upward. I started with a very quick thumbnail and tried to do most of the design work in the program. I was trying to pull elements from the original Star Wars droids, while bringing some mid-century modern motifs as well. I rendered this in Fusion and added some extra textures and details in Photoshop.
