Loser Chess Piece

My friends and I love the game of chess.

We thought a fun twist would be to give your friend the "L" (Loser), when you beat them in a chess game.

This is the final design for this product.

Step 1: Aquire the Wood

You can find any piece of wood for this project. I grabbed a piece of oak wood.

Step 2: Wood Turn

Turn the wood to get rid of the bark. You want it to look smooth! Also wear protective face gear because bark fly's in multiple directions.

Step 3: CAD and Sketch

Displayed are the CAD for the design and a sketch. The CAD was made in an older version of Auto CAD from high school. It is a simple design of a chess piece with the top half removed. The Sketch is of a standard white pawn. I multiplied all of these dimensions by 3 in order to make a larger pawn.

Step 4: Finish Pawn and L

The pawn has been carved out from the wood cylinder. I also cut out the letter "L" from african black wood.

Step 5: Sand

This is the final product after a lot of sanding and polishing! The second image is the scaling difference between the two pawns!
