Long Board Support for Chop and Radial Saws
Way back in 1987 (Old Guy Talk) I was cutting some long boards on my Radial Arm Saw (remember those?) and needed a way to support the loose end.
Supplies
You don't need much: a step ladder, a bit of plywood and some screws.
How to Start
So the process is pretty simple. If you can set the step ladder next to the saw table. Use a marker to transfer the height of table to front leg of the ladder. Then cut an odd shape of plywood to match the leg and the line from the table top. Screw the plywood to the ladder leg with 4 or 5 screws.
Finished
So here is is finished, nearly 40 years later. I can still use the step ladder to reach things on the shelves! At 72 I should look for a safer way to climb than a step ladder!
So I hope this is helpful and that you work safely!
Good luck, Carl.
