Loaded Baked Potato Soup Recipe
I enjoy dishes with potatoes, potatoes are generally very tasty and can be used in multiple ways. Think of a food item that you really love. That dish you thought of probably crossed paths with potatoes before. Again, potatoes are very versatile. Anyways, today I want to try and show off one of my favorite potato-related dishes, a baked potato soup. I assume you already know what a baked potato is. If not, it’s a simple dish where a potato is baked and then added with toppings like Sour Cream, Bacon, Onions, Cheese, ETC. If you could think it, you could probably add it on top of the baked potato. I will show you how to make a soup-like version of a classic loaded baked potato.
Supplies
6 Potatoes
1 Green onion
1 cup of shredded Bacon bits (You can cook your own bacon as well)
1 cup of cheese
2/3 cups of flour
½ cup of butter
2 cups of chicken broth
5 cups of milk
½ cup Garlic
½ Pepper
½ Salt
Step 1: Prepare the Potatoes
You don’t want a big chunk of hard potatoes while trying to eat a creamy soup.
Skin your potatoes and cube them. After that, set them aside
Step 2: Chop Your Green Onions (and Bacon)
If you’re planning to cook your bacon instead of using the precooked bacon then this is the time to do so, if not then proceed to...
Chop your green onions and dice them, if using your own bacon, also chop and dice them.
Step 3: Start Making the Cream
Using a stockpot, add butter, and flour, then start to whisk it. Next, add the chicken broth and milk, after stir until it becomes smooth. Stir in the potatoes and green onion. While stirring add the garlic, salt, and pepper. Continue to stir until the potatoes start to become soft and the cream starts to bubble.
Step 4: Mash the Potatoes
By this step you'll probably that the potatoes are still hard and too might be too large, this is where we mash the potatoes, this is where we use a potato masher.
Start mashing the potatoes in the stew with a potato masher. You can also other techniues as long as it mashes the potatoes.
Step 5: Finish It Off With the Sour Cream, Cheese, and Bacon
This is where the loaded part of the loaded baked potato soup come from, prior it was just a standard potato soup.
Start adding the Sour Cream and pour around half a cup of cheese, after the sour cream has become smooth, add the rest of the cheese and start pouring your bacon
Step 6: Pour and Enjoy
After a while, the cream must've thickened and continue to bubble, this is where you could now serve the soup, the soup should give a serving of about 8 bowls. The other day I made it, my mom, dad, brother, cousin, and I ate it for dinner and we still had some leftovers for lunch. If you made this recipe, please tell me your opinions on the dish so that I can improve it in the future. Thank you for reading and potentially doing this recipe that I'm sure you and your family will love.
