This is a small project to be done with the little ones in the house, but that the big ones can also enjoy.

A second version of a small and simple rocket that will take us with practice less than 5 min to build and that can be used for entreteinment competitions like: height, distance or objective.

To build your little rocket you need:

Supplies

  • 2 Matches
  • Piece of Thinfoil
  • Opens space
  • Needle
  • Clip

Rocket Fuel and Body

To make this little rocket, you will only require 1 match as fuel. To get the fuel to provide the thrust for your rocket, it is necessary to leave a small gap between the body of the rocket and the match, for this you can use the needle or the unfolded clip.
If you don't have a needle thick enough, it's best to use an unfolded paperclip. To make the body of the rocket use the thinfoil, take the longest edge of the piece of aluminum (approximately 4 in) and bend it 1/2 in inwards, so that you have a completely straight edge.

Place the match along with the needle or paperclip so that the match head is 1/4 in inside the paper and wrap the foil around both.

When the match is completely wrapped shape the tip of the rocket by twisting the aluminum foil

Preparation for Launch

Before launching your rocket, remove the clip or the needle. Try to make the opening a little larger while removing the needle by moving it slightly from one side to the other.

To launch your rocket, use the unfolded clip, make sure that the clip doesn't have any plastic coating. Fold the clip into an L and place the rocket on the longest end, tucking the clip where the needle was. Place your rocket on the tip of the clip without inserting it completely, allowing the rocket to come out easily.

Launch It!!!

Take the clip from the short side of the L and place it at a launch angle (approximately 45 °). Finally for the launch we will use the other match to heat the aluminum approximately where the head of the combustible match is located.
Consider that the launch can take a short time (10-20 seconds).
