Little Hearts Chocolate Rolls

Love is in the Air!

Chocolate filled heart shaped rolls are a perfect treat for your loved ones.

Nothing says love better than chocolates and hearts. So I thought of bringing them together in a twist.

The heart chocolate rolls are easy to make and tastes delicious. The aroma right out of the oven was amazing.

Ingredients

Preparation Time - 1.15 Hours

Cooking Time - 15 Minutes

Ingredients:

Roll:

All Purpose Flour – 1.5 Cups

Milk – ½ Cup

Vegetable Oil/ Melted Butter – 1/8 Cup

Salt – 1 Tsp

Sugar – 1.5 Tsp

Yeast - 1 Tbsp

Chocolate Layer:

Water – ¼ Cup

Sugar – ½ Cup

Milk – 3 Tbsp

Cocoa Powder – 1 Tbsp

Corn flour – 1 Tbsp

Dark Chocolate – 10 gm

Vanilla Extract – 1 Tsp

Butter – 1 Tsp

Yeast

Heat milk till lukewarm. Dissolve yeast and sugar in it. Let it rest for 10 minutes.

It will froth. This is when the yeast is active.

Knead

In another bowl take All purpose flour, salt and oil/butter.

Make a dent in the middle and add the yeast mixture.

Knead together well to form dough. If the dough is too wet add some flour.

Let It Rise!

Now place the dough in a vessel with wet cloth covering the vessel.

Keep it for 45 minutes- 1 hour. By this time it would have become double the size.

Chocolate Filling

Heat water and sugar till combined.

Add milk, cocoa powder and chocolate. Let it melt.

Add corn flour combined with little water (just to dissolve the corn flour) and vanilla essence.

Let it simmer for 2 minutes till slightly thick consistency.

Remove from heat.

How to Get the Heart?

Now place it on the work place and with the help of a rolling pin roll it flat. Do not press it hardly with the rolling pin.

Roll such that you get a desired length to cut widthwise that will form the heart.

With a knife cut the dough into strips width wise.

Heart Ready to Bake

Spread the chocolate layer over the strips made.

Now pinch at the middle of the strip. This is the tip of the heart.

Roll both the ends inside symmetrically.

Now you get the shape of the heart.

Egg Wash

Beat the egg and brush it over the hearts ready to be baked.

This will give a nice golden crust.

If you are a vegetarian you can use milk instead.

Bake

Preheat the oven at 180 degree Celsius for 10 minutes.

Bake the little hearts for 10-15 minutes.

The baking is done when a golden shade appears on the top of the hearts.
