Lighthouse (Distance Learning With Tinkercad Contest; Category: SCENE)
Introduction:
"Lighthouse" is a Tinkercad model. It resembles a small, cozy, seaside scene, accompanied by a lighthouse and two cornerstones.
Supplies
Supplies:
1.) A computer (desktop, laptop, tablet, etc.) 2.) Tinkercad (Tinkercad is a type CAD made by Autodesk. [Computer Aided Design application]) (https://www.tinkercad.com/)
The Cornerstones
The Cornerstones:
Above, in the photos, is one of the cornerstones. They are originally made of a standard Tinkercad provided "cube" that is combined with transparent spheres to resemble the cracks, holes, and imperfections in the rock. On top of the cornerstone, I added plants/grass. These were made of Tinkercad's provided "cones.'' I modified them to become smaller and more fitting to the cornerstone and seaside/motherland. The cornerstone itself is colored #c7a06f, and the grass is colored, #3f9863. In the "The Cornerstones" photo section, you can also see the cornerstone before it was combined with all the elements to make it the wonderful and realistic piece it is now.
The Water
The Water:
This is the ocean portion of my Tinkercad model, "Lighthouse." The ocean portion is made up of many modified Tinkercad provided "spheres." This portion of the model is colored #1f91df, I made the ocean portion "transparent", using the Tinkercad tool to give any shapes a translucent appearance. In the images above, you can see a photo of the translucent option that I used, as well as the shape that i used to make the ocean segment of the model. (The water portion being translucent adds to the model looking realistic. You can see the water contrast with the bottom of the cornerstone and seaside, making the entire piece look very intuitive and like a shallow, snorkeling bay. In fact, it makes it look like there is water moving.)
The Lighthouse
The Lighthouse:
This is the lighthouse section of my Tinkercad model. It is made up of a series of provided Tinkercad "cylinders," of many sizes and colors. There is also one Tinkercad provided "cone," which is on the very top of the lighthouse. It is colored #dde2e4. The majority of the lighthouse, the segment that goes from the ground level all the way to the transparent cylindar with the LED bulb, is either colored #951a21 (red), or #dde2e4 (white). There is also, of course, the part of the lighthouse holding a light. What is the point of a lighthouse if it can't shine out into the sea, right? This part of the lighthouse is made up of a transparent cylinder (to resemble windows), colored #2b2323. Inside of it is the light. The light is made of a Tinkercad provided "LED 10mm." bulb. The "LED 10mm." shape can be found in the Tinkercad shapes library "Circuit Components" section. In my model, the bulb is colored #e1ad34. The light effect of the lighthouse, the yellow, transparent, cones, shining into the water, is made of transparent Tinkercad provided "cones," colored #ffdc14. The lighthouse's body is also hollow. This makes the model look more realistic when we add a door (round, triangular hole in the lighthouse's front wall) to the lighthouse.
The Land/Seashore Cliff
The Land/Seashore Cliff:
This is the motherland of this model. It is made of a standard Tinkercad provided "cube." I left this "cube" a solid shape. I modified it to become longer and a tad bit higher. Than, to carve out the cliff and imperfect surface, (to make the model look more realistic) I took many Tinkercad provided modified "spheres" and made them "hole shapes." Then, I combined the two, and BOOM... the whole gorgeous cliff side was born. I colored this cliff side, #c7a06f. I also added grass onto the motherland. The mainland is also where the lighthouse stands. (The grass on the motherland has the exact same attributes as the ones on the cornerstones.)
The Grass/Plants
The Grass:
This is one of the most important details this whole entire model. It makes the scene look more lively, detailed, colorful, full of biodiversity, and realistic. The grass is made up of many modified Tinkercad provided "cones." The grass I made are colored #3f9863.
The Night Mode
The Night Mode:
For this addition to the model, to make it appear as if the scene were placed at a late hour, I added a extremely huge (modified) Tinkercad provided "cube," made it transparent, and colored it black.
