Supplies

-1 meter x 2’’ PVC pipe

-2 x 2’’ PVC elbow

-Transparent tape

-Glue

-Silicone Sticks

-Foam board

-Newspaper

-ALUMINUM FOIL!!!

TOOLS

-Marker

-Sandpaper

-Bench press

-Work Gloves

-Hot Glue Gun

-Cutting Blade

-Scissors

-Measuring Tape

Cut Pipe in 3 Parts and Sand Edges.

First, you need to measure 33 cm and 66 cm to cut your pipe in 3 equal sizes.

Then with sandpaper, you need to clean all the edges!

Heat Pipe and Reshape It. (ADULT SUPERVISION!)

Elbows usually don't fit both sides, that's why you need to reshape one side of the pipe.

With ADULT SUPERVISION you can do it with fire. You need to move it quite a bit so it doesn't burn. When you see it malleable, you can insert the elbow and wait it to cool so then, it fits just right!

Cut Pipes in Half and Sand Them.

To have a better conductivity of light, you need to cover the inside of the pipe the best you can. With trial and error we discovered that a precise cover, gives the best results. So we asked us how can we cover it with no bumps?

The solution was this!

PRO TIP: Use the bench press for an easier cut.

BE CAREFUL!!!

Cover the Inside of the Pipes With Aluminum Foil.

After cutting it, you need to cover it with aluminum foil.

First, you need to apply some glue.

To get a perfect cover, you need to pass your fingers over and over, taking all the bubbles out.

After you covered all the halves, let it dry for at least 15 minutes.

►PRO TIP: Use the shiny side pointing towards you. If you do it backwards, this whole project will be a TOTAL FAIL becasue the opaque side, doesn't reflect enough light, and the machine will not perform its function.

Cut Elbows in Half!

If pipes performed the best while being cut, why would it be different for elbows?

Cut the them in half carefully!

Cover the Inside of the Elbows With Aluminum Foil.

Then, you need to cover them with aluminum foil.

Use tiny parts for an easier paste.

►PRO TIP: Use the shiny side pointing towards you. If you do it backwards, this whole project will be a TOTAL FAIL becasue the opaque side, doesn't reflect enough light, and the machine will not perform its function.

Remove Aluminum Excess and Join the Elbow Halves.

Using gloves, remove all excess!

You can bend all the aluminum excess for an easier cut.

After you removed all excess, start joining both halves with the hot glue gun.

PRO TIP: Don't put glue near the side that was heated in step 2. If you put it there, fitting would be harder.

After you paste it, use transparent tape to assure the aluminum foil on the circular edges.

Remove Aluminum Excess and Join the Pipe Halves.

You need to do exactly the same that it was done with the elbows.

Print, Paste, Cut and Cover the Mirror (both) With Aluminum Foil.

1. Print the document.

2. Cut the figures.

3. Paste them to a piece of foam board (or something stiff enough like cardboard).

4. Cut it from the internal edge of the figure.

5. Paste it to the aluminum foil. Be CAREFUL that the mirror will have the shiny side!

6. Cut it out form the aluminum foil.

That's it!
