Light and Strong Design for Carbon Fiber Bicycle

Ever just had the urge to make a bike? Haven't you ever just felt a hankerin' for some bike manufacturing? Well your dreams can finally come true!

In this tutorial I will be showing how to design and customize your own bike. I will show you how to pick a custom material (I chose carbon fiber) and I will also show you a picture that will tell you all of the dimensions that you will need.

The Diagram

This is the picture that I used for the dimensions of my bike. You can too! To do this, go to the SolidWorks tools menu>sketch tools> sketch picture. This way you can see the picture in SolidWorks!

The Model

Once you have the picture imported, you can start the work on model. To do this, use the revolve base tool in SolidWorks. This will revolve a space around a center line for the tubes. Make sure that the tubes are long enough so that the connect with each other!

The Material

Now that you have your model, you can select your material. Go to the side menu in SolidWorks to select this. The picture below depicts how. Go to where it says Material, and right click. This will open up a small menu, and in that menu click Edit material. Then the material menu will open and you can select whatever you think will be the best material for a bike.

Rendering

Now comes the rendering. To do this, go up to the very top of the SolidWorks window. A small menu will slide out. Click on the tab that is called Photoview 360 Then click Final Render. This will open up a  seperate window. Give it some time to render.
