Lexapics Print & Play Mode — Reveal the Theme With Words. the Most Innovative Fast-paced Game!

Be the first to find the hidden theme and shout it!
✨ What is Lexapics Game Mode?
Lexapics is an artistic puzzle experience where players uncover a hidden image by solving word-search puzzles. It blends observation, creativity, and deduction into a unique game format. You can find the full classic LexaPics instructable here.
The Print & Play Game Mode offers a more dynamic and social version of the game:
- One person is the Announcer
- Others are the Players
- The image is revealed word by word, tile-by-tile as the announced words are found (words are the pixels to reveal an image!)
The print & play version of LexaPics is designed for 3 or more participants and works perfectly in classrooms, family settings, or group events.
It is a fast-paced, word-search puzzle game that reveals a hidden image as you play. Each tile in the grid corresponds to a part of the final picture (a word-search puzzle) and each word you find completes the tile and provides you more visual clues about the final image — turning word-solving into a slow-burn artistic discovery.
Players/Roles:
- 📣 Announcer (Facilitator / Coordinator)
- Guides the game and announces one word and its tile at a time
- Uses the provided tile-by-word list and theme preview
- Ensures fair play (e.g., no premature shading)
- Can follow a preset list or choose the word order manually
- Keeps the score in the provided scoreBoard
- 🧩 Players
- Each player receives a printed gamesheet with a grid of word-search mini puzzles 3X3 or more
- Listen carefully to the announcer and locate as fast as you can the word announced in the correct tile
- Shade the word and start completing the image
- Try to guess the hidden image theme — or collect the most words
This setup encourages observation, listening, fair competition, and word recognition — all while keeping the game engaging and fun!

Game Objective & Description
Your mission:
- Find the announced word in the correct tile of mini puzzles
- Shade it to reveal part of the image
- Try to guess the subject of the image before anyone else
- Or win by finding the most words before the end
Each round, a new word and its tile (A1, B4...) are announced by the facilitator (or announcer). Players race to locate and shade it. Only the first player to do so scores the point.
Track progress using the LexaPics Scoreboard, dots-and-boxes style for easy score keeping, a line for each word found. Each completed box = 5 words.
The game ends when:
- All tile-word pairs are announced
- Or a player correctly identifies the hidden image theme, even before announcing all words
Each image is divided into a grid of tiles — for example 5×5, 4×4, or 4×6 — which represent 25, 16, or 24 mini word-search puzzles respectively, and a grid of 10X10 or 12X12 letters per mini puzzle, named A1, C2, letters for rows numbers for columns.
Each tile contains a small word-search puzzle where words can appear in the following three directions:
- Horizontally (left to right)
- Vertically (top to bottom)
- Diagonally (top-left to bottom-right)
This is the default and easiest setup — perfect for beginners or younger players.
Game Rules
- The announcer downloads the the puzzle game sheets for the players, and scoreboard and the preview and wordlists per tile for himself.
- Each round, a random tile-word pair is announced by the announcer. Players must locate and shade the word in its correct tile.
- Only the first player to shade the word earns the point. No other player may shade that word — even if they also find it. The announcer is responsible for following the rules.
- Once the announcer marks the point for the player that found it, and marks it on the wordList proceeds to a new word randomly for another tile, or for the same.
- Different play modes: (a) the announcer proceeds to a new word when a players find one word, or (b) announce words based on a time interval using a timer or hourglass.
- Do not shade unannounced words, unless everyone agrees to that rule.
- Each correct word earns a mark on your LexaPics scoreboard. Every full box = 5 words and there are 20 lines X 5 boxes = sum of 500 words. But in game mode we won't need theese much!
- Words may repeat across tiles but only once per specific tile.
- The game ends when:
- All words are announced
- Or a player correctly guesses the image’s theme
- If no one guesses the theme, the player with the most shaded words wins.

Supplies

You need just a printer, markers for each player, pen / pencil for the announcer to mark spoken words and mark score.
- printer for printing gamesheets, scoreboard and wordlists for the announcer.

File Name Format Agreement and Gamesheets for Players:
For each one of the 5 different themes i provide you with remixes, regarding difficulty. The words are easy words related to the theme to find.
File names below follow the following format: #002-4X6-10-HVD
- 002 → Game theme ID
- 4X6 → Grid layout: 4 columns × 6 rows (24 puzzles)
- 10 → Each puzzle uses a 10×10 letter grid (12 = 12 letters etc.)
- HVD → Each puzzle uses Horizontal, Vertical and Diagonal (leftTop to RightBotttom) word positioning
- HV → Each puzzle uses only Horizontal & Vertical word positioning
For an easy start, we recommend playing with a 3×3 gamesheet and 8-letter grids — simple and quick for newcomers! maybe only HV too?
Following are the gamesheets, one per player start with an easy game, lets say 3X3 - 8 - HV or HVD.
- So choose a game and print as many gamesheets for that game as the players
