For this project, we will need:

  • Garden torch (tiki torch)
  • BBQ/Kitchen Lighter
  • Metal tube (I used 12mm copper tube)
  • 2 x small packets of "Sugru"
  • A small piece of wire
  • 2 x Washers
  • Spray paint

Strip down the torch.

Cut a piece of tube for the barrel.

Slide it onto the tube that's coming out of the cap.

(I could not figure the technical name of it )

Use “Sugru” to join the barrel to the fuel tank.

Cut a piece of wire and attach it inside of the cap.

That will prevent your bullets from falling into the fuel tank.

Get a BBQ lighter with a short nozzle or alternatively, cut the nozzle if it's too long.

Before cutting the nozzle, remove the wires and plastic from the nozzle.

If you are planning to use the spud gun with alcohol, remove the gas tank from the lighter.

I drilled some holes in the nozzle, even though it's not really necessary.

Let's get rid of those labels.

Then, a hole was drilled in the fuel tank.

I secured a washer to the canister's hole. I used “Sugru” to join the lighter with the fuel tank.

I drilled a hole in the flame guard, and slid it onto the barrel to make sure it covers the joint.

Then I attached a washer on top of the hole.

Everything was painted black.

For bullets, I used pins and Sugru bullets made from screw.

As mentioned before, I use alcohol for this spud gun. I tried to use lighter fluid, but I did not like it.

I put a some of alcohol into the fuel tank and then shake out the excess.

After 30 seconds - 1 minute, I close the cap and shoot.
