Let's Make a Delicious Beef Stew
The other day I came inside after completing some tasks around the yard. It was cold out, and I was hungry so you can imagine how excited I was to smell a fresh stew cooking. It's no wonder Esau got in so much trouble over a stew.
Stew is a wonderful, easy to prepare full meal. And there are a ton of variations and options to keep things interesting.
Today let's take a look at beef stew.
Ingredients
You'll need:
- 1.5 kg of beef (though you can substitute this for lamb or goat)
- 1 large onion
- 200 grams bacon
- 500 mls of water
- 1/2 cup chopped capsicum lightly fried for garnish
- 1 tablespoon of smoked paprika flakes
- 1 tablespoon chopped parsley
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 2 slices of bread (to make breadcrumbs) - We've used our Sourdough Bread
- 12 almonds
- butter
The beef we're using is precooked and left over from making our tasty Beef Stock . Follow the first few steps in that instructable to prepare your beef, then head back here to carry on :-)
Bacon and Onions
Start by frying up your bacon and adding your chopped onion.
Add garlic and cook until the onion becomes a clear consistency.
Crumbs!
Roast your almonds for 5-10 minutes remembering to roll them around every few minutes.
Fry the bread in a little butter until golden brown on both sides. Then rip your bread into small chunks and put into a food processor. Add your almonds and give it a light blend. Sprinkle your smoked paprika on top and add this to your frying pan that contains the bacon and onions.
Mix well together and pour in the water. Add the meat and stir it around. Put a lid on top of the stew and leave for about 30 minutes.
Completion
We hope you enjoy this lovely meal savoring it's full flavor and great taste.
Another serving option is to have with Baked Potato Chips
Enjoy!
