Summer is dwindling away. As fall approaches, let's remember that we can still go to the beach without leaving our room.

Autodesk Tinkercad: You will need a basic understanding on how to log on and design items using Tinkercad. If you have never created a design in Tinkercad, you should take some of the lessons available in Tinkercad. You should know how to place a shape on the workplane. Along with duplicating, rotating, changing size and color, and grouping shapes.

Log onto Tinkercad and view the design "Let's Got to the Beach" by SarahCath. Look closely and determine what item you would like to add to the beach scene. Maybe some people, a boat, fish... There are many items you could add to this scene. Once you decide what the scene needs, create the object.

  1. Log onto Tinkercad and select the button to Create a new 3D Design.
  2. Give the design a descriptive name. I am creating a beach towel. Note: You do not have to rename the design, it is good practice to provide a descriptive name and it will help you find the design later.
  3. Create your design. It may be as simple as a cup or a complicated as a lighthouse.
  4. Once you are happy with the design, create a Shape.

  1. Select the shapes in the design that you would like to use to create a new shape. I select all the parts that made up my new towel.
  2. Click on the arrows in the Basic Shapes drop down menu. The Shapes Library list will open.
  3. From the Shapes Library, select Your Creations. All of the shapes that you created and saved to the library will appear in this list.
  4. Click on Create Shape.
  5. The Create Shape window will open displaying your new shape. If the shape is complex, it may take it a while to load. Fill in the following information:
  6. Name
  7. Description
  8. Tags (you are limited to five)
  9. Select Save Shape
  10. Close the design.

If you would like a copy of the beach scene for your personal use or for use as a classroom project, you may copy this design, Beach Scene (this design not open for everyone to edit, which makes it the best option for personal or classroom use).
