Lethal Mousetrap

F5QQGWJKUIDQIFJ.jpeg

I made this trap to catch a rat that visits my bird feeder. The rat is full of disease and I don't want sick birds and squirrels. Plus, that rat tips my feeder open when climbing, causing a mess under the feeder. I don't want the rat to make the pumpkin seeds full of disease and throw seeds on the ground. This trap is derived from those old-school traps you probably saw when you were back in school. It uses a milk cap to hold the bait, white proso millet.

Supplies

Slip the cap right behind the stick.

Fill the Trap With the Bait

Becuase squirrels like the same food as rats, it is important not to kill squirrels. Use white proso millet which only rats like, not squirrels.

Trap Placement

Put the trap on a fence. Anchor it to the fence securely to prevent the rats from pouring out the bait to eat.

Clean After Each Use

When you catch a mouse or rat, throw it in the trash. Then, wash the trap with soap. If you have a cloth covered case, sanitize it.
