Lego Arm A.B.S Holder
For this project, we used $11.41 worth of PLA and a metal dowel that costs $11.49, for a grand total of $22.90.
Supplies
Both arms: $10.62
Both dowel caps:$0.79
Aluminum dowel: $11.49
Creating the Dowel
Firstly, we started our sketch in fusion 360. We made a centre-oriented circle that was 45mm in diameter, to stop the dowel from falling out of the hands.
Extrusion
For the second step of the dowel caps, we finished the sketch and we extruded what we had and then added a second cylinder to fit into the pipe. This finished the first dowel cap.
Copy and Paste
To finish our dowel caps, we simply copy and pasted our first dowel cap and pasted it right next to it. This finished our STL, and we then sliced it in Prusa Slicer to prepare it for the print.
Starting the Arms
We started the arms the same way as the dowel caps, only we started on the horizontal "y" axis instead of the "x" axis we used for the dowel caps. This is simply because we wanted to print the arms on the horizontal plane, not the vertical. We then sketched and extruded a large cylinder, and then a smaller one on one of the faces.
Designing the Hand
We then sketched a circle that we extruded into a thin cylinder. We made a circle inside of it and bored a hole 54mm wide into it, and then cut a rectangle out of it so that we could remove the dowel freely. We attached this to the original cylinders, finishing our lego hand. We didn't copy and paste this one because the arm is too big to print two at a time.
Slicing the Hand
We finished up by slicing and printing the hand.
