This is some scraps from my buddy's shop. And a piece of a pallet. The red wood is a piece of cherry that I cut in half. Then used on piece for a banana leaf and the other for the stand. The piece of spruce is from pallet.
Payed out what I thought was the shape of a banana leaf.

Miter sled didn't quite make my angle. So I clamped a board to it for my jig. Then lowered my table saw to 3/8" high and made my lap cuts. Back and forth and so on.

I cut out my shapes on a bandsaw. Then held them together while I figured up my base plate. That hole was made on the scroll saw. Normal layout for me is:make really critical measurements, cut it wrong, then file it until it fits.

Got ready for all of my put together. I had some gaps on the lap joint. So I mixed up some glue and saw dust. Filled in the gaps. Let it harden. Then sand off like its hot.
Drilled a small hole. Bent a nail. The glued the bail in place.
