This Instructable will teach you how to use lighting in Nomad Sculpt to create awesome 3D creations.

Supplies

iPad, phone or computer, Nomad Sculpt

Starting the Base

To begin our creation we need to start the base. Start by opening Nomad Sculpt and create a new project. Then delete the starting sphere and create a box. Bring down the size until it looks like a square board. Now go to primitive and bring up the post subdivision until the box edges get smooth.

Adding the Sphere

To make the sphere you need to create a quad sphere. Go to primitive and bring up the post subdivision until it becomes smooth. Now adjust the size until it is small and is floating in the air.

Adding the Rocks

Now that we have our sphere we need to add the rocks. Begin by cloning the sphere and moving it to the ground. Then use the move tool to shape it into a rock. Now duplicate the rock three times and move the duplicates to the corners of the base and shape them into different shapes and sizes.

Adding the Pedestal

Now we need to make the pedestal which the sphere is floating above. Start by creating a cylinder and bringing the size down until it is thin, then go to primitive and adjust the post subdivision until the edge of the cylinder is smooth. Now duplicate it and make the duplicate smaller than the last one. Duplicate again and make it smaller than the last one. Now select the smallest one and go to additive and adjust the opacity until it looks like it is glowing. Then change the color in the painting icon to light blue or whatever color you want. Finally go and click the post process icon and adjust the bloom intensity until the top of the pedestal is glowing.

Making the Sphere Glow

IMG_1462.png

Now it’s time to make the sphere glow just like the top of the pedestal. Start by selecting the sphere and going to additive and adjusting the opacity until the sphere glows. Now go to post process and adjust the bloom until the sphere glows more realistically. Paint the sphere blue or whatever color you prefer.

Painting the Landscape

Now it is time to paint the landscape. Let’s start by painting the platform. I’m going to paint it brown but you can do any color you want. To create the rocks paint them a grey color. For the pedestal you can do any color you want but I chose a dark gray.

Adding Lighting

IMG_1484.png

It’s now time to add the lighting to make our creation more realistic. Start by going to the shading icon and add a light. Now move the light to the middle of the sphere. Then turn the mode to spot and adjust the light to point down and around the surroundings . Adjust the brightness until you like the colors. FInally change the color of the light to blue or whatever color you used for the sphere. If you use any other color than the one you used for the sphere it will look a little weird.

Fine Tuning

IMG_1485.png

Now to fine tune the shape and color of the landscape. You don’t have to do this step if you are happy with the shape and color of your landscape. Just change the color until you are happy with it. Do this also for other shapes within the landscape.

Enjoy Your Masterpiece!
