Learn How to Make Samosa Chaat!

I choose to make this dish because it’s a favorite in my household, It holds a lot of memories for my family. Whenever we have potlucks and parties with other Indian families this dish as always makes its way around, stealing the spotlight. Since I had a few samosas at home I suggested to my mom to help me make this recipe so that we can share with everyone else an easy but delicious meal.


samosa chaats roots can be traced back to Central Asia & the Middle East, amongst South Asian households it’s very famous and people have found many ways to creating this dish with their own twists and style. This recipe I’ll be sharing is my families way of making it.

Supplies

These are all the necessary ingredients in order to make the dish

  • Chickpeas or white peas
  • Samosa stuffed with potato or veggies
  • Tomato
  • Onion
  • salt
  • red chilly powder
  • chaat masala
  • chilly powder
  • cilantro
  • Sauces of choice
  • yogurt

Step One: Prepare the Peas

Grab your white piece or chickpeas, and into a bowl, add one cup.


after adding them to a big bowl, let it soak in warm water for at least 3 to 4 hours.

Step Two : Prepare the Veggies

Prepare your veggies, dice some tomatoes and onions into small cubes

Set the Instant Pot

remove the water that you previously soaked the peas in, with new water and 1 table spoon of salt for taste and add to the instant pot ( or pressure cooker ) to cook for 10 minutes.

Get the Spices

In a separate pan fry some onions, until a golden brown color, then add ginger garlic paste for 2 mins along with a few tomato pieces.


after 2 minutes of mixing add the following

1/2 teaspoon of salt

1/2 teaspoon of red chilly powder

1/2 teaspoons of your spices of choice

1/2 teaspoons of chaat masala


Combine Everything

After your peas are doing boiling add everything to the paste you’ve created that is in the pan


Then crush some of the peas for extra thickness


and add everything back into the instant pot for 5-7 minutes ( boil )

Toppings

Meanwhile add all your toppings to a bowl and your seasoning


  • onions
  • tomato
  • cilantro
  • Sauces of choice
  • yogurt


as for spices, keep aside some


  • Salt
  • pepper
  • chilly powder

Set Up Your Bowl

First get your samosa into a bowl

next crush it into pieces

then add the chaat

lastly like an ice cream bar, add all the toppings
