Leaf Sheep Slug Plush

The Leaf Sheep Slug is my favorite animal. It that can photosynthesize and look cute while doing it.

Supplies

  • Blue or Purple fabric 1.5 m long, 3 cm wide + a bit for the antennas
  • Green fabric 1.5 m long, 10 cm wide
  • White fabric 20 cm long 15 cm wide + 2 circles 7 cm diameter
  • Black felt or beads for the eyes
  • Thread

Sew the Strip of Blue Fabric to the Green Fabric

Pin the fabric with the fluffy sides touching and sew along the outer edge to get one piece with blue on top and green on the bottom

Fold and Pin the Strip in Half Lengthwise

Make sure the height of the blue on one side matches the height of the blue on the other side all along the fabric

Sketch Out the Spikes

You'll need 5 small spikes and ~18 large ones

Use a pen to mark the fabric. Make sure you test the pen to make sure it doesn't shine through

My picture shows 7 small spikes, but this was too many

Sew Along the Lines You Drew

It's ok if it's not perfect, you'll be turning them inside out anyway.

Cut Out the Spikes

Turn Them Inside-out

Stuff the Spikes

You can skip this step if you're using felt

Make the Antennas

drawing.jpg

You make the antennas approximately the same way you made the spikes; by sketching out the shape on the fabric, folding the fabric in half, sewing along the lines, cutting them out, and turning them inside out.

Cut Out 3 Rectangles of White Fabric 20 Cm Long 5 Cm Wide

Pin the Spikes to the Edge of the White Fabric

20210315_220150.jpg

Find the middle of your fabric first

You should have either 5 or 6 spikes per layer.

This picture is from after I've done a couple of layers

Pin Another Layer of White Fabric on Top

Sew This Sandwich Together

Pin and Sew a Second Line of Spikes Like the First

Take the piece you have already made and pin the spikes to the edge of the white fabric, put another layer of white fabric on top and sew

Pin and Sew a Line of Spikes to the End of the White Fabric to Hold Them in Place

20210315_221543.jpg

This is going to be the back

Pin a Line of Small Spikes to the Other End of the White Fabric

This will be the front

At this point you should have one piece of fabric with a line of small spikes, white fabric, normal spikes, white fabric, normal spikes, white fabric, normal spikes.

Pin the Antennas On

I put them between the 1st and 2nd spikes and between the 4th and 5th spikes

Sew Along the Edge to Hold the Spikes and Antennas in Place

Cut Out 2 Circles of White Fabric

drawing.jpg

~7 cm diameter

If you're using a less fluffy fabric you might want to add a dart to make it a more natural shape.

Sew a Circle to the Front

You'll need to hand sew this

In the end you should have a sort of tube

Sew on the Eyes

drawing.jpg

You can either make eyes out of black felt or use beads

Sew It Into a Tube

Sew it inside out

It should be open in the back

Turn the Slug Right-side Out

Sew the Other Circle on the Back

You won't be able to sew it up all the way, that's ok

Stuff the Slug

Use a Ladder Stitch to Close Up the Hole

Done!
