Lava Lamp

In this instructable i will be guiding you how to make your very own Lava Lamp.

This is just like a lava lamp . . . without the lamp!.

The bubbling effect and the turbulence produced resembles a Lava spewing out of the volcano is due to the

CO2(Carbon dioxide) gas produced due to the reaction between CH3COOH(Vinegar) and Baking Soda(NaHCO3) which is trying to escape into the atmosphere.

Lets get started

Materials Required

>10 ml Vinegar

>75 ml Vegetable Oil

>4 tablespoon Baking Soda

>Food Color

>Funnel(you can make out of paper or plastic sheet)

>Bowl x 2

Start With Vinegar

Pour about 10 ml of Vinegar into a bowl.

Make It Colored

Add a small pinch of Food Color to Vinegar.

I have chosen orange color to give my Lamp a Lava like effect.

Add Baking Soda

Make a funnel using paper and add roughly around 4 tablespoon of Baking Soda into the container.

Add Vegetable Oil

Prepare a funnel with any plastic sheet.

Now pour 75 ml of Vegetable oil into the plastic container .

Initiate the Reaction...

Using a syringe pour the colored Vinegar drop by drop into the plastic container containing Vegetable Oil and Baking Soda.
