Laundry Detergent Cup Drip Shelf

Went shopping with my wife one day and she was looking at some little shelf stands that you can put the laundry detergent and fabric softener on and the cups sit underneath to catch any drips. I looked at them and told her I can make those myself. So after an hour or so in tinkercad (I love that tool), I created the perfect little cup shelves. No drilling or mounting required.

Supplies

3D printer (could be done with wood also I suppose)

Hot glue gun and glue

These were going on an actual shelf above the washing machine so I needs something that would not raise the bottles too high (wife is only 5 feet tall so too high caused issues, she’s not the only one that does laundry our 2 sons and I also do it, but we don’t have the height challenge). I also wanted something that uses the weight of the detergent and fabric softener bottles to hold the shelf in place so it doesn’t need to be screwed in to the main shelf.

Once the design is complete it is downloaded from tinkercad as an STL file and then uploaded to the slicer. I used Cura for the slicer. This is printed in PLA filament (it’s what I had on hand) but anything would work other than flexible filaments of course. Load and hit start. Time for a cup of coffee or other relaxing drink while it prints.

Adding Hot Glue

After it’s all printed up. Breakout the hot glue gun. Apply a liberal amount of hot glue to the top of both shelf sections. This makes the surface a little tacky so the detergent bottles and the cup won’t slide around.

Pat Your Self on the Back Because You’re Done

This is where you show your spouse or significant other or anyone else who will be using it. They get really excited and thank you profusely throwing roses at your feet while exclaiming to the world “you are my hero!”
Enjoy

**No roses were harmed in the making of this instructable. The level of adoration may or may not be the same as mentioned in instructable. Some parts of the narrative may have been created for dramatic effect. Ok I really just got a great job and thank you dear, but that doesn’t mean you won’t get roses and exclamations.
