Laser Photo Engraving on PLA Plastic

Hello everyone, I want to share an interesting idea. When trying to make a volumetric image in the volume of acrylic, I decided to slip a PLA plastic plate under the laser. I immediately saw a very contrasting white line on it. I threw aside the acrylic and started experimenting with PLA plastic.

I use DPSS 4W Endurance + sino-galvo sg7110

Test Table

To begin with, I ran a test table on it to determine the optimal work parameters. As it turned out later, the test table gives only an approximate understanding of which parameters should be chosen. Adjustments must be made for each image individually.

When passing over the plastic, the laser leaves a white color, so in Ezad I turn on the image inversion.

I selected speed mode 1800 mm / s power 70%

The Result

Photoengraving on PLA plastics using 4 watt DPSS Endurance infrared impulse laser

I can safely say that it lends itself well to engraving. Produces a very high contrast white image. I tried to make various portraits and figures on it. Here are my results
