Laser Cut Firemans Phone Stand
Fireman themed phone holder. Fire axes leaning on fire-hydrants put together on a Maltese cross. Works with most smartphones portrait or landscape. Made with 1/8 inch craft wood cut on a laser. Great for watching movies or just surfing the web.
This particular version is engraved with STATION 12 but could be customized with almost anything the sky is the limit.

Drawing Files
The first step was to create the drawing file. I started with Auto-desk Inventor then transferred Auto-Cad. This file will be available for download. Both hydrants need to be cut twice with one inverted as seen in the the next step. I did not do that in the download as it is much easier for us to do in the laser software.

Laser Cutting
This particular version was cut with a (laser). The red lines are cuts where the black lines are only engraved. With this particular laser:
Red= Power 100% Speed 2
Black= Power 100% Speed 35
Sanding and Gluing
There are two options, you can either put a thin plastic layer on the wood before being cut or it can be sanded with a very high grade sandpaper. Both get the same result of removing the smoke created by the laser.
After sanding/removing the plastic, two of the four hydrants need to be glued together, one with tabs and one without to make a sandwich.
Gluing to the base is optional as the tabs stay in quite well without glue. If not glued it can be broken down anytime.
